Black Beach opened the Beach Box Series at White Box Gallery, featuring five OCCULTER artists: Nadav Benjamin, Jeremy Dyer, Derrick Cruz, Jonathan Goldstein, and Gabriel J. Shuldiner. The exhibition presented large-format works spanning digital constructions, mixed-media paintings, sculpture, and site-specific installations, with smaller works offered through the White Box-Universal Ltd. Editions Café.

As symbolists working in anticipation of uncertain futures, each artist interpreted consciousness and the incorporeal, using history—aesthetic, religious, political—as tool rather than guide. The result was a collection of tenebrous works that functioned as a call to worship at the feet of new mythologies still in flux.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

The installation design evoked a self-reflective spirituality that simultaneously longed for and shunned community. White walls created a contemplative environment for observation, while the spatial arrangement allowed each work to maintain autonomy within a cohesive narrative.

For opening and closing nights, the gallery transformed from observation space to participatory environment through energetic musical performances curated by Todd Pendu of Pendu NYC, contrasting the contemplative nature of the visual work with visceral sound.
